Environmental Normalization in the Aeronautical Sector

Abstract

The current social concerns regarding emissions of greenhouse effect gases and noise have stimulated discussions related to environment standardization on the aeronautic sector. Aligned with this movement, the present work describes a brief history of the standardization process, identifies the most relevant environment related standards for the aeronautic sector, presents the main features of them and highlights future trends on this issue.

Initiatives in Aviation to Reduce CO2 Emissions

Abstract

Air transport is responsible for approximately 2% of global CO2 emissions, and by 2050 should represent 3%. This is due mainly to strong growth in air traffic worldwide. Attached to this growth, there is a concern to monitor the progress of global warming associated with these emissions and therefore, the aviation industry is working hard to reduce the impacts on the environment. In this context, this article intends to be an investigation about the main initiatives of the industry to reduce their emissions of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
